Why I built my own corner of the internet

Every platform I have ever published on has either died, changed its rules, or buried my work under an algorithm. The lesson took a decade to sink in: rent an audience, own a home.

This site is that home. It follows three rules:

Content is files. Everything here is a Markdown file in a git repository. No database to migrate, no export button to hope for.
Boring beats clever. The stack is deliberately dull — a static site generator, a CSS framework, a host. It must still build unattended in two years.
Minimum friction between writing and publishing. If publishing takes more than a commit, I will stop doing it.

Expect essays, shorter notes, reviews of things I actually use, the occasional paper, and small interactive experiments. If you want to know when something new lands, there is a newsletter — one email per publication, nothing else.

On writing in public

A note, not an essay: publishing a rough idea early gets you correction; polishing it in private only gets you attachment to being wrong.

Notes on this site are exactly that — unfinished thoughts, visually marked as such. They may grow into articles. They may quietly disappear. That is the point.

Review: Deep Work by Cal Newport

The claim: the ability to focus without distraction is becoming rarer exactly as it becomes more valuable.

What holds up: the core economics. A decade later, the scarcity argument has only strengthened; the people I know doing the most valuable work are all, in some form, hoarding attention.

What aged: the tactics chapter reads like it was written before remote work. Time-blocking survives; the grand gestures mostly don't.

Verdict: read it for the argument, improvise your own tactics. Four out of five.
